Dear Parent,

As bringing up children is a collective task of parents and school. I feel that it is important that I share my thoughts on Education with all of you.

Education has never been so critical for the children as it is now in 21^st Century. The skills that are required by each child for preparing oneself can be categorized into following heads

First, we must try to develop 5 crucial Cs among the children through education that we impart.

Communication: Where the child must know the art of precisely conveying of thoughts and ideas through proper medium.

Critical Thinking: This is based on Numeracy skills, and it teaches children to critically analyse a given data or information and create some meaningful outcome from it.

Creativity: This is another important skill where children can put into practice the principles of design thinking and come out with solutions for a given problem that are fresh and meaningful.

Collaboration: This is a need of the hour in the ever-shrinking world, where collaboration is the key to the problem solving of the future.

Compassion: Education must initiate compassion in children so that they become socially significant and selfless in future.

Apart from these 5Cs the most important skill that the school must teach the children is the art of learning to learn. Teachers and parents must be conscious always that they must finally make the student an independent thinker, thus constructing new knowledge himself or herself. Children should not be dependent on someone else for their learning. In the age of digital media and literacy knowledge is everywhere, we must teach students the skill of acquiring knowledge as and when required.

As the baton gets transferred from one generation to another generation in social order, the upcoming generation must learn the process of correct decision making. This process of decision making is one of the most crucial learning aspects where the foundation is laid by the school. And this foundation is a complex task of ethics and values. It helps the next generation to take right decisions, keeping in context the tradition and culture of the civilization.

The last two years of the Pandemic have taught us the importance of good health and healthy social living. Thus, it is important that schools teach children the various aspects of Health, Hygiene and Safety.

Latest Research shows that in early years of schooling reading speeds are crucial for children as they determine the learning trajectory of students in the later course of life. While the middle school is the time to build skills which focus on co-curricular activities but here the school must pitch itself as per the learning profile of the students and identify these students as Visual, Auditory or Kinaesthetic Learners. At this age Socio-Emotional Learning plays a very important role. In senior school the students must learn to dive deep into their respective subject areas and connect the knowledge with real life.
